What each song page contains
Where the source material allows, every song is presented with four layers:
- Romanized lyrics in standard IAST transliteration, with the diacritics intact (kṛṣṇa, rādhā). A one-tap toggle switches to a plain spelling if you prefer.
- Word-for-word meanings — the Sanskrit and Bengali gloss for each phrase, available for 604 songs.
- English translation of every verse, available for 1,161 songs.
- Audio recordings by devotee singers, where they exist.
Sources & credits
The songs, translations and word-for-word meanings in this collection come from the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition's published song books — Gitavali, Saranagati, Kalyana Kalpataru, Gitamala, Prarthana, Prema Bhakti Chandrika, Stavamrita Lahari and others — as compiled and digitised by the Vaishnava community.
All audio recordings are hosted by and streamed courtesy of ISKCON Desire Tree (IDT), whose long service in making this material freely available we gratefully acknowledge. Each recording is credited to its singer on the song page, and every audio file links back to its source. We claim no ownership of these recordings.
The English translations and purports of Srila Prabhupada's works are the property of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT). Translations of the acaryas' songs are the work of many devotee translators over many years.
A note on attribution
Roughly a quarter of the songs in the older anthologies carry no recorded composer. Where a song's authorship is inferred from the book it appears in rather than stated outright, the composer's name is marked with a small “?” on the song page. We would rather show honest uncertainty than assert an attribution the source does not support.
