ke jābi ke jābi bhāi bhava-sindhu-pāra dhanya kali-yugera caitanya-avatāra

Word for word

ke who; yabi — will go; ke — who; yabi — will go; bhãi brothers; bhavasindhu material existence + ocean; para across; dhanya blessed; kaliyugera of the age of Kali; caitanya avatara the incarnation of Sri Caitanya

Translation

Who will go? Who will go, brothers? Who will cross over this ocean of material suffering? This Kali-yuga in which Sri Caitanya-avatara has appeared is blessed. [Caitanya-avatara does not come in every Kali-yuga.]

āmāra gaurāńgera ghāṭe adāna-kheyā vaya jada, andha, ātura avadhi pāra haya

Word for word

amara my; gaurangera of Gauranga; ghate ⁠at the port; adana free; kheya ferry-boat; vaya servicing; jada the inert (old); andha ⁠the blind; atura sick, afflicted, distressed, agonized; avadhi the limits; para haya cross over

Translation

At the bathing place of my Gauranga, a free ferry-boat is waiting. There is no restriction – everyone is coming, including the lame, blind and distressed. All are climbing aboard to cross over.

harināmera naukākhāni śrī guru kāṇḍārī sańkīrtana kheroyāla du'bāhu pasāri

Word for word

harinamera of Harinama; naukakhani boat + the; sriguru sri guru; kandar — helmsman; sankirtana congregational chanting; keroyala ⁠the oars; du'bahu two + arms; pasari upraised

Translation

Harinama is the boat, Sri Guru is the helmsman and the sankirtana party moving with up-raised arms are the oars!

saba jīva haila pāra premera vātāse paḍiyā rahila locana āpanāra doṣe

Word for word

saba all; jiva souls; haila para crossed over; premera of divine love; vatãse by winds; padiya having fallen; rahila remained; locana Locana dãsa; apanara his own; dose due to fault

Translation

All souls can cross over with the favorable winds of prema. Only Locana dasa is so unfortunate that, due to his own fault, he has been left behind.
