This small, seventeen-song collection is genuinely eclectic, reaching well beyond the Gaudiya Vaishnava padavali tradition that makes up most of this site. Alongside songs from familiar names here — Locana dasa Thakura, Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Narottama dasa Thakura — it holds the Mukunda-mala-stotra, attributed to Kulasekhara Alvar, a poet-king of the quite separate Sri Vaishnava tradition of South India; the Nityanandastakam of Prabodhananda Sarasvati, another major Gaudiya Sanskrit author; the Govindam prayers traditionally attributed to Lord Brahma, opening verses of the Brahma-samhita; Bhaja Govindam, the celebrated Sanskrit hymn on the futility of worldly attachment traditionally attributed to Adi Sankaracarya, whose non-Vaishnava origin recurs elsewhere on this site as well; and Narayana-kavacam, a protective hymn from the Srimad Bhagavatam attributed to Vyasadeva. One entry, Se Subha Diner, is by Bhakti Caru Swami, a twentieth-century ISKCON guru — placing a contemporary composition here alongside verses many centuries older, a reminder that this genre has never actually stopped being written.
